Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Think my manager is trying to get me to quit

I had a mental breakdown basically bc of my job back in the fall and had to go on short term. Ever since I’ve been back...if anything, things have gotten worse. I feel like the mouse the cat plays with before k--ling it. I’ve gotten back and forth on accommodations, it’s not even worth trying to get one. My performance is struggling but I also feel I can’t ask for questions or I get conflicting answers. I’m looking hardcore but I can’t get out soon enough. I wish they’d just do something one way or the other - I can’t stand this waiting game.

BNY must be in deep sh*t to be letting so many good people go. Managers are unhappy too and wishing to be gone, just like the rest of us. I just wish the company would treat people with respect before they lay them off. Senseless institutional torture (like overwork, and the BE quota) shows the company’s character and should be a warning to everyone.

Not for nothing but if your disabled and think your laid off because of it, then file with the EEOC as quantity of complaints does count and the more they get the more likely they are to look into it.

A group of people, age or disabled or whatever can't be targeted.

Yeah I have a backup plan in place I’m already starting to get the wheels turning on that. Plus I’ve applied all over. It can’t end soon enough. My job should not cause this much mental anguish

I know the feeling. I feel like I’m on the verge of a breakdown just because the last few month my boss is treating me horribly. I’m already told I’d be the first to go. How awful. Been here for decades. Since last year it’s a hostile environment. I hope things work out for you.

Just from my experience I had something similar, my performance was good and so was my review. I had a fairly new MD and he was opposed to wfh. I brought in a Dr. note and a few days later was told he approved it , but I had this gut feeling something is not right. Fast forward a couple of weeks, I was told my position is terminated and let go. Mind you, the work was there as in technology we were over loaded as is. I can’t prove anything but I’m sure this is the reason. I’ve been there long enough to know when I’m being setup to fail. So the BNYMELLON is Stigma free is a bunch of BS! Just a show. Who knows what the end game is for this company but I caution anyone who is still there to have a backup plan. I’d put a warning label on this company, At you’re own risk for employment! Good luck! P.S I’m not over 50 either and business side we’re happy when I was working on their project. They knew I did not give them lame bs excuses to try and stretch the hours needed for said projected to be completed.
