It's a good way to leave this hellish place - severance might not be great, but it's enough to get me through a month or two while looking for a new job. And I don't think finding something will be that hard - anything is better than BNYM right now. The sooner I am out, the better.

Sometimes you don't appreciate things until they are taken away. Everybody moans about how bad BNY Mellon is, but there are much worse jobs. It's not like you're being yelled at and told you cannot leave until all the work is done. Jobs are hard to come by and you may have to take a giant pay cut starting over.
only in the sense that i could use a vacation. i'm feeling burned out. also that would give me instant motivation to find a new place of employment that i don't have yet, not quite at the tipping point yet
You're definitely not alone!
