Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

It is now clear the transition has been poorly planned

Here we are a couple months after we first heard the news. Those of us who stayed on with NCR can now clearly see that the transition has been poorly planned. System integration is weak, our new management doesn’t understand the business or the division of labor/tasks. Their ES mobility system for handling tasks is disgraceful and makes the job much more difficult than need be. When you look for support from management, the rarely provide any meaningful guidance. I’m fairly certain that the holiday season will start to shed light on how incredibly stupid outsourcing IT services was. I’ll enjoy watching NCR crash and burn.

Register moves are a total waste of resources at almost every level. I always loved how one district person said move registers 5' to the right and another back to the left a year later costing $1000's in the process. NCR would be smart to eliminate moves altogether, would save everyone tons of money. And here is the kicker, there is not anyone left in the stores to run the registers anyway.

As an Ops Manager, I love the new NCR program. I submitted two requests for register moves based on another completely asinine floor move from our district team to prepare for an upcoming regional visit and it's fun to watch my boss stress out and see the store manager and DVP having fits because the NCR person hasn't even been in to do the survey, let alone hire a contractor to do the line work.

It's all I can do not to laugh out loud whenever they call me to ask me what I'm doing to get this addressed. We used to have a MST guy who took care of these moves in weeks, now I don't know how long it takes because I have yet to have one actually get completed.

I hope that facilities is next, I can see it now, escalators and elevators not working for months at a time, and all I have to do is show the open work orders and numerous follow-up email and I am off the hook.

Anyone with half a brain knew it was a bad idea, but I am sure Macy's saved millions and I know that is all they care about. I am ex-field services I am glad I was paid to leave, a nice Doemust add, we kissed the rumps of the people in the stores. I am sure the over worked NCR techs are not going to do that. Good luck to all!
