Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I QUIT

Why is it there is no workers in the store ? I look at my schedule and it shows me working in other departments that I have never worked. So if I'm working in other departments who is doing my job. Why are they juggling the books-hours to make it look like there is coverage when it's not. Is corporate that gullible or just doesn't care. Putting all the work on the one's thats at work everyday. I did love my job but I don't now. I put in my two weeks notice yesterday

We have several phantom employees on our schedule. They are on there week after week and no one knows who they are. Once we were told they had been pulled for deliveries, we asked they delivery team and they said they had no new ride alongs. So we figure these phantom employees don’t exist or they are beating management at the hiding game.

You played right into their trap. You left on your own accord which means you get NO severance and NO unemployment. Good job Elvis.

I feel you, my last day was two weeks ago. I don't regret it one bit, around December stuff started going down hill for me. Whenever i first started, working there wasn't perfect, but it was manageable. It all started with the managers having me downstock the Christmas sidestacks and setting them out. No help, i was the only one doing it the whole season, with a ridiculous schedule to have stuff out. Everytime i pulled someone the managers would complain why i chose that person to spot me. Along with downstocking, I also had to do normal outside garden stuff like cut trees, water the houseplants, freight, irps, dshr, etc. One night, i flipped out on my manager over how overworked i was. He said he understands and was sorry about it. That same manager lied to me about doing inventory saying it's 6-3 and it'll work better for your school. The shifts were longer than he said plus he knew inventory was during my finals week. Trust me, that was hell trying to study for them. Then for the spring semester i tried changing my availability for school again and he denied it. Told me that no more than 2 people in a department can have an availability so we'd have to change your department if you want that. That was another lie because other everyone in outside and inside garden had some sort of availability. Btw, i called off whenever i needed to and i didn't care if i got fired because of it. Hr and my manager tried forcing me to another department because i wanted to give up forklift so i said im putting my notice in. After a meeting, they finally worked with my schedule and i retracted my notice. Once spring hit this year, we were so understaffed, got so many complaints and management made morale in all of the garden permanent staff go down. Seasonals were extremely lazy this year, one told me this isn't what i signed up for and expected the tenure employees to do everything while she counted her steps for the day. My other coworker who started with me put her notice in and left at the beginning of the season due to some of the same issues i had. Whenever she told me, i was quite shocked because she never really complained, but she said she was so frustrated. Coporate rules made no sense, how could you have power hours all day on the weekends and 10-4 weekdays and expected anything to get done? I know they want to be more customer focused, but customers were complaining because shelves were bare and nothing was downstocked. Low staffing, power hours, and more freight than previous years was the worst combination. Garden looked so bad and they expected us to make everything perfect. This also resulted in a decline in customers which everyone noticed. I also found out that all the seasonals were making more than i did even though I've been there longer. The last straw was whenever my manager told me that garden hadn't been leaf blown since the last time i was in which was a whole week and then they kept pulling me to unload the truck so i kept getting yelled at. Whenever i put my notice in, it felt so great. I'd rather have no job until school starts in a month than endure the constant yelling, stress, and unfairness. Again, lowes was good whenever i started, but it just got to be too much. My previous job wasn't even this bad. I'm glad you got out, good luck in whatever you move on to.
