Everyone is forgetting, what made Global Imaging an amazing company within the industry was the anatomy of local cores to operate within their local communities based on the local marketplace. Each region in the U.S. is different and solicites different pricing structures and product demands. When you take that away and go to a one size fits all approach, the whole business model is dead. I’ve been in this industry for 20 years as a major account sales rep selling millions in hardware a year. I can’t sell the new “Xerox”. Our customers don’t want what we are becoming. This consolidation has happened many times before in our industry and every time it happened those companies failed. The writing is on the wall. Carl Icahn is greasing the wheels for a large payout on the backs of so many hard working employees. Find a solid local company in your area in the industry with an owner that has years to invest before they can sell to get their “multiple” if you want to work in the industry. The saddest thing, Carl Icahn is 80 years old and worth $30 billion. The guy should be living out his life on a beach rather than destroying the lives of thousands of hard working people that never deserved this.

Well said major sales rep, I work at a core in MA, I never in my wildest dreams or should I say nightmares, saw this coming, I thought my career would be long here, I love my job and the people I work with but I go to work now and I witness first hand what this greed of Carl and his cronies has done, I watch the extremely talented and hardworking teams struggle with trying to keep up a good attitude, I watch the employees badged over to HCL who now have "my job is being taken away" air about them and rightly so, I don't know how they keep showing up day after day and still work hard, I know they are just staying for the stay bonuses promised to them and then they said they will leave because there is nothing more to stay for, there is no more raises, there is no future and when they leave and the work is done by people who won't have the same local hard work ethics then I know the rest of us will feel it because nobody wants to see their coworkers get this type of treatment. Xerox ruined the lives of so many people and I know if somebody started a new local company that most if not all employees I work with would go work there and make it a success, so if anybody reading this needs great and hardworking employees reach out , best of luck to everyone out there!!!
Again, start your own dealership. The non compete won't hold up in court. The customers will follow you. Big business is doing what big business always does.
