Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

New bodies at the Head Shed

Over the last few months, all three Division "Presidents" have been "retired."

Tony Hurst (Home Depot and JC Penney Alumni) replaced Jeff Sain as Division President, West Division.

Matt Monroe (Lowe's, up through the ranks) replaced Bill Edwards as Division President, South Division.

Quonta D. Vance (Target and Home Depot alumni) replaced Stacey Ryan as Division President, North Division.

your comment about ackman and what he had attempted to do at target (and penneys before that) needs a massive spotlight on it. the board at target fought his attempts and he lost big time. im sure he has learned a few lessons there and is attempting to do a few things differently. maybe working with shaw...bringing in their own hand picked ceo.....putting 3 new ppl on the board immediately. marvin has already done two stock buybacks....something ackman couldnt get the board at target to sign off on. limiting employee stock buying has to be part of this plan. i hope for the sake of the hundreds of thousands of employees that would be effected that he has given up his lust to destroy.

So much for Marvin not hiring friends and family and having to earn you position. Looks like he’s bringing more of his buddies and former C-suite pals.

Sad to see Bill Edwards go, he came to my store several years ago when we won some award. He walked around and said hello to all the associates.

My projection for the future of Lowe’s is a systematic division within the company. The goal is to create the parent company which is Lowe’s and subsidiary’s. I’ve seen cases such as Hilco that is divided into 22 different branches but are essentially the same company. For example Lowe’s delivery, installation for flooring, separate interior, exterior. This limits all liability as well as a tax free source of revenue. Marvin and Ackman from Pershing Square go way back to the Target Days. Ackman attempted the coup (takeover) with Target and he failed. Lowe’s is under duress. They are essentially being held hostage until enough profit is pumped out for the holding company. Go back to May 2018. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

Most likely Lowe’s buyout? One store at a time to a concession flea market (after Marvin destroys it).

lol. 1. HD wouldnt have the fluid capital to make a buyout that significant.

  1. the debt incurred, even if they did, would likely take them under.

  2. the buyout would serve no purpose as most any lowes store is near a HD store. you say well most the customers would then have to migrate over to HD......probably would be offset by the expense of all those leased buildings etc. etc. lawyer and court fees, not to mention region players still exist like menards, ace hardware, lumber yards etc. hd and lowes is a drop in the bucket to the larger home improvement landscape.

walmart bought a bunch of small businesses that was suppose to help them compete.....all it became was a nous around their neck and theyre looking to get out of them right now--go over to the walmart page and youll see that. petsmart will end up going under because of their buyout of chewy.com and the debt load they cant pay back. toys r us did go under, not because of lack of profit but because they were bought out and bought out companies like fao schwartz and kb toys. heck even amazon buying out whole foods is probably losing them money. buyouts of retailers by other retailers usually ends up in the demise of both plain and simple!

everyone they hiring now is from outside - walmart, home depot, etc .. no promotions from within anymore.

lowes is strategically destroying itself purposefully to be bought out by home depot.

Matt was our district manager back when it was a 9 store deal. He would come to visit stores and we were glad to see him. He knew everyone by name. He got more done in ten minutes than most of these losers get done in a day. I hope corporate appreciates his thoughts. He will push for stores to have all the tools they need.

Matt Monroe is legitimately a great guy who started as a lot boy pushing carts. Probably one of only higher ups worth his salt.

Look for more Home Depot associates to be hired; that’s all they are hiring at my store. They passed over a long term appliance CSA to give the appliance specialist position to a part time cashier from Home Depot.

New appliances specialist is lost and wants the CSA to help; CSA told the specialist “you’re the specialist, you should know your products.”
