Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Where did the people that left Sam’s find new jobs?

I would appreciate, if there are people that left Sam’s or were let go on this board, that they posted where did they find new jobs. Did you stay in retail or did you move to other business? Is it even worth trying to apply at competing companies on the market?

The best job I will ever have is the job I am going to after I leave this job. The worst job I ever had was the job before this one.

I always like to ask new associates where have they worked at before and some of the answers are interesting to say the least. And quite a few will have amnesia and pretend this is their first job ever.

Where I leave we have 2 big manufacturing plants for some big name construction and farming equipment. A whole bunch of call centers that start you off at $16 an hour. A few warehouse jobs that start hire then Walmart Inc.

The main problem with those places is that the same people who used to work for Walmart Inc are the ones working at those jobs. Same managers and same hourlies.

I’m an ex PTC and with my years of experience I was able to find a good job as well. NOT in retail. Hit all the job boards: indeed, monster, Glassdoor, etc... and stick with it! Good luck

I took my severance when they changed the backroom. I went to the DMV and am feeling great! I think anything outside of Sam's is a big stress relief. I was a TL. Hearing about the raises doesn't even upset me. My sanity is worth more than some extra money on my check.

A prior coworker was right. Not working at all is better than working there.

Why do you want to know specifics of where people went? I left and am no longer in retail. That's a dead end job. I am at an office job now. I was able to use my experience in audit and cash office to start new at an accounting company. I will not post my company name because I don't need info out there for id--ts like the polish dog guy looking us up and calling. Just know that I am extremely happier. Add me to the list of people who wished they had left a long time ago.
