Promotions after Functional Level Realignment

PE here that was promoted during last year’s realignment of US pay grades. Anyone know how this impacts time in cycle for the next promotion? What was initially communicated as a realignment to the market now seems to be treated as a routine promotion, thus resetting the promotion clock. GTMIS time in grade is also updated. I’ve spoke with several folks and received mixed messages. This is not a good look for Chevron HR.

@ccgv, What you just explained is no surprise for those who have at least 5+ years of service. There’s a lot of well deserved employees who are waiting for their 2+ or 1 ranking to get closer to a promotion. The company has set a maximum limit on the percentage of employees each year who will earn anything better than a flat 2, not to mention a PSG bump. So you shouldn’t expect to get this treatment every year. I also have a good work ethic but learned early in my career that busting your @ss every year is like spinning your wheels in the mud. I learned to coast along for two years straight just getting my job done and meeting deadlines, but nothing more. But every third year, I excelled in my department’s expectations and put in a little extra overtime when needed. I made sure my work and persona was noticed by everyone, especially my boss’s boss and other managers. Every third year I earned a 2+ or a 1 ranking. And every third or sixth year, I also got a PSG promotion. You have to work the system, not the other way around.

OP, the same happened to me. I was hired in the middle of the realignment and missed out on the PSG shift. Later I got a promotion 'to catch up with the realignment' but 'i deserved it anyway for my hard work.' Not that I didn't appreciate it, but again told in my review that because I got a promotion it was hard to justify anything more than a 2 flat. That is a triple-dip. Someone probably got a pat on the back for cost-savings on that one.
Don't worry about the haters on here, you know we are getting shorted. That's HR's job, right?

Years clock reset...why surprise? Then again try exhibiting next grade behaviors...good things come to those who preform and stay positive.

OP, sounds like your concern is yours only, not mine. You get a promotion out of the blue and now you’re crying for when the next one will be handed to you? Shut up you Prima Donna. It’s simple, keep your cushy job and top pay or move on. I’m sure a someone else with a good work ethic will be happy to take your place.
