Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

When are the layoffs going to stop?

Is it naive to expect that this is ever going to stop? On the other hand it’s not logical for a company to continue eating up its very own organs until total destruction. Can we ever expet things to stabilise?

Yeah, these folks are silly if they think Oracle is bad or does staff reductions. It just shows their lack of experience elsewhere.

Here's why google doesn't have to resort to mass layoffs:

"Google knows that it draws the best talent and uses it for its advantage. While having Google on your resume is a plus, there is a price to pay. Work/life balance is incredibly skewed at best as many fall into the trap of producing amazing work in the hope of gaining recognition and career advancement. Unfortunately, most will be graded as "currently meets expectations" during performance reviews and find that promotions are incredibly difficult to obtain. The result is that currently over 50% of Google's workforce leaves in under 2 years. Yes, Google is a churn and burn machine that chews through workers sanity, personal life and health to feed its own growth."

Just for kicks, I checked out other pages on this board:

Microsoft:

"If your product team has been merged into an org with no mandate in your business, get that resume ready and start looking. "

Google Cloud Pay Cuts

Google has announced a pay cut for all sales, customer engineers and specialists across all regions. Depending on your level this is anything from a 4% to 20% or more.

Amazon:

I got laid off from Amazon earlier this month June. Team manager stated it's for performance which was bogus and either was doing a wrong chart or falsifying performance documents to write ppl up. However, in the system is has as a layoff with no reason. No writeups in the document system either. Needly to say I'm glad the stress of the past 6 months on his team are over.

Don't kid yourselves. If they don't need you anymore, you're gone.

It's a churn really. Out with the unneeded skillsets; in with the modern skillsets.
