Entry-Level IBM Engineer Salaries Trail Tech Industry

And another thing the inundation of "New Collar" resources facilitates is the further dilution of the already below market average salary base. Another triumph for Ginni and her gaggle of bean counters!

Ibm is like a small market baseball team....they may get some top prospects, but eventually all the best players leave for hot teams that pay well and actually have a chance of winning, and the 'blues' are relegated to perpetual mediocrity.

The stated goal is to pay median wages, and for that you get mostly middling talent.

1 You get hired at below-market salary.

2 You never get a raise so your salary decreases with cost of living inflation.

3 IBM management is shocked that they do not produce competitive products with their bottom-of-the-barrel personnel.

However, IBM offers quite a bit of money to those with highly specialized skills. Back in 2017, Tom Eck, the CTO of industry platforms at IBM and a software developer who has been involved in A.I. as far back as the early ’90s, told the audience at the Markets Media’s Summer Trading event in New York that top-tier A.I. researchers “are getting paid the salaries of NFL quarterbacks, which tells you the demand and the perceived value.”
