The problem is that Aubrey didn’t just finance it with a second credit card he also used people’s investments to better himself, his family and those that would sign off on his ILLEGAL practices. The fact that some people still see this guy as a hero makes me laugh. The guy was a power hungry criminal. It’s as simple as that.

He attracted people on lies with someone else’s money. And now the current CEO has to rectify his criminal activities as well as his own issues. People don’t realize there are things about AKM that have been kept quiet by the current management out of respect. Trust me when I say that if they wanted to destroy all those sheep that still think of him as a god, they could do it instantly with a few “Aubrey truths”.

When judging the current management team (and they have many faults) we have to remember that the ONLY reason they are in such a terrible situation is because of the illegal stuff that went on before.

People will say at what point do we stop blaming AKM? That point is when the company has got rid of HIS debt and our peers stop associating CHK with our criminal past. The miserable times we are currently in is so his family could live the high life and his ego could be pampered. There isn’t a respectable business person in the country that doesn’t see that crook for what he was. And when the truth was FINALLY coming to the forefront he had an unfortunate “accident”.

We can blame Dug and the rest for the decisions they have made during their tenure but there will always be a * by their record due the terrible legacy one man created.

How naive we were. Back then, why did we think this oil boom would be the one that never ended? Aubrey, despite his managerial faults, knew how to work with & attract people. He could sell the dream better than just about anybody. Even if the dream was financed on a second credit card - his vision raised the profile of what all employers should offer, creating a better environment for all OKC workers. The current CEO tries to "engineer" management . He's such a robot that he paid a 3rd party company to install company culture. It must be odd to be THAT disconnected from reality. He's like an oil and gas version of a Gen X Mark Zuckerberg - but obviously without the stock performance. If he would just spend some time to listen to individual contributors instead of relying on his corrupt & power-hungry "managerial team", I'm positive he could reach conclusions about how to get CHK back on the list of best places to work. Given the CEO's track record so far, I give that about a 0% chance of happening, PS - HR person who's job it is to read and track all these posts. Please share with CEO. Thanks.

If I had a credit card with a $20B credit limit I could make a great place to work for 5 years running. Eventually you have to make the payments and if you can't file for bankruptcy. We are using one credit card to make minimum payment on another and pay for groceries. If the banks keep offering us credit cards I guess we can do this forever, but when they stop we are done.

If you look at the world through a rosy filter you can't see green. We haven't seen green in a long time everything is in the red spectrum. Maybe we should hand out rose colored spectacles so they can see what we see.

Not sure what you're trying to say here...because it's already fairly obvious that the compensation in oil and gas is good. If you think about it, virtually all of us are grossly overpaid for what we actually do. Those fat paychecks make it incredibly easy to ignore how lame the work has been since 2014. It's not surprising that c-ap E&P companies end up on the list.
