About 5 years ago, I'd say the IT Dept. was amazing and unique in the industry. They were doing great things and serving the company well. Today I'd say it's mediocre. UP actually wants a mediocre IT Dept. rather than a truly excellent one. They came out and said that they want to be a Class I railroad and nothing more–and that's exactly what they'll be, if they're lucky. All the innovation, streamlining, and efficiency that the ID Dept. introduced in years past has now come to a halt, and they're struggling just to maintain that. Who cares? It is an administrative service. UP has much bigger problems. I don’t care if they use dial-up
