Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Thanks for nothing Ford

If someone told me it would end like this 14 years ago, I would call that person crazy. A company I gave my best years to screwed me over when I needed security the most in my life, 4 years away from my pension. Walking the extra mile all these years doesn’t count, nothing counts. Don’t want to sound pathetic, no one died, it will work out in the end, but it’s a damn shame to be betrayed by the organization I devoted my life to. Let this be a lesson yo the younger folks.

Yea, there was a time where you were loyal to Ford and Ford was loyal to you. You were treated as a person. You were part of the family. All that has changed. Older employees are still loyal to Ford however Ford treats you like c-ap. A number. A position. A box on a spreadsheet. What's his name. Goodbye old world. New employees will never feel the way older employees felt in the past. It does not matter how many "culture" posters are hanging in the hallways. Feel like taking the "Put people first" one and use it as a fire starter while camping.

As someone who entered the workforce in 2011, there is no such thing as loyalty. Not for you, and definitely not for a company. I work for me only

Ford did the same thing to be me about 10 years ago during a reorg. It was brutal and I saw the worst in people and how they turned on each other. I moved my family all over the country for Ford only to be told I was in the wrong job at the wrong time and it was eliminated. It was a hard 3 years but it did finally get better - however I am done with loyalty to a corporation.

"Let this be a lesson to the younger folks"

So, when executives complain that they cannot find talent, that Millennials are transient and have no loyalty they should reflect and remember those words: "Let this be a lesson yo the younger folks"!

Boomer and Gen X-ers cannot help it, they have been raised to be loyal and will stay loyal, but the Millennials and Gen Y-ers will have none of that. They saw how the game is played by observing what happened with their parents and how sr exec greed and neglect of the worker affected their parents.

So, please, do not complain that you cannot find loyal talent. An exceptional employee will only work for an exceptional company and Ford is so far from that ideal!

So, go tell your kids: "Let this be a lesson for the younger folks"

Sorry it hurts I know.

I worked many hours of unpaid OT doing others jobs and improving the environment. I gave and gave to the company while others sat around doing little. Who got the axe today ? The person doing the work for 15 years. My advice to others at Ford, if you want to stay at Ford be a loafer and a boot licker that is your ticket to safety.

On the flip side, four hours after getting the boot, I had two unsolicited offers of employment. News certainly travels fast and far. Treat your coworkers well, they will remember your help and abilities and offer a hand when you need one.

Did you lose the pension you accrued?

This is why you never swear allegiance to corporations. You just use them as a means to an end, like they do you.
