Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

C O S T C O

Is Costco doing this? everything they do we copy, put a spin on it, and do it worse than they ever thought they could get away with.

We are always trying to keep up with Costco and Amazon. We will never catch them. Couldn't come up with a unique idea if we wanted to. Have to copy everything those two companies do. Only good thing we have going is Scan 'n Go. So, I'm sure they'll squash that perk soon and just watch the membership numbers plummet! If you're an associate and have a Plus membership, downgrade. Make it hurt that precious bottomline that they've grown from all the terminations, cutbacks and ignorant penny pinching money savers (ex., coffee at the front door for Plus members). This company is not getting any more out of my paycheck for treating associates and members like a competing statistic.

Cool story bro 😆

This did not happen, and the cashier did not say that at the end.

We only have about 2 Costcos near my club. The Market Team all shops at them as well. The MM said the same thing room for both.

The best was we had a visit from an MHRM who was there talking about hiring and the workplace. While the MHRM was talking with a member she told the member they should really upgrade to plus to take full advantage of all that Sam's has to offer. To prove her point she wanted to show the member how easy it was to purchase a fountain drink at the registers. The MHRM drops a card on the belt and grabs a cup. The cashier picks up the card and looks at it bewildered and then asks the MHRM for her Sam's card. The MHRM glares at the cashier and starts to look like there is going to be a conversation to settle this matter. The cashier with a bit of scared look on her face hands the card to the MHRM and says; "This is a Costco card may I have your Sam's card?" The MHRM frantically starts rummaging through her pocket book and starts to realize she does not have her Sam's card with her.

A kodak moment the club manager saves the day hands the cashier his Sam's card.

At the end of the transaction the MHRM said the infamous line; "Room for both."

If Sam's Club did want to take the number one spot from Costco. One way to do it is to lower the club membership to $40. Reintroduce the business membership at $45. And keep plus at $100.

@1dvi I shop at Costco and it's way better! Their fresh areas are always full of associates, they have everything well stocked all the time and usually there is no need to look for an associate for help. Everything is in front of you. I use to think Sam's was also cheaper, but after buying certain items I discovered that it was the same pricing because Sam's has cheaper prices but also gives you less product. With some things Sam's is actually more expensive. They always have lots of cashier's open. Their lines are long but they move very quickly. I see the same faces a lot. They also don't push you to upgrade your card or open a credit card. After shopping at both locations, Costco has my business hands down. No contest. Sam's will never compare.

I dont think Costco is as great as everyone says. Ive been shopping there many years before even working at Sams, They have turnover rates to. they have new faces every time I go, they dont say , Hi how are you, can I help you, they don`t talk to you unless you talk first. Their prices are higher also. If you want to know your competition, go join for a year and see what you think.

Costco does have similar block scheduling BUT they also have about 3 times more associates working at any given time. Sure their not as friendly or go out of their way to be noticed by members but there's enough to get the job done & take care of their members. Go check out how many associates they have in cafe, fresh & clothing. I think the business centers may still have some overnight associates. They also only have one opening time during the week, 10am. A lot can get done

when we stay focused on our work from 4am-10am as opposed to 4am to 6am as we have to be ready by 6-630am.

Sam's market managers like to compare apples to avocados when making their ridiculous club visits. They know it but everyone bows down to their ignorance and so they continue....

Yep our leaders, MM and above, can only copy others as they can't think for themselves. Definitely losing here in CA against Costco. We have a regional VP who shops at Costco with his family and says, HE & his wife prefer shopping there. "Theres room for both." He says. Ok... true that!
