I doubt OCI would be ready for customers 1awd. They may try and sell cheap to entice some people to get on board or maybe even manage to sell DBaaS and Compute for cheap to get some people on board but the ecosystem is so far behind, for example AWS, that there is no way on earth that ORACLE can catch up.

Just see the kubernetes offering from AWS to ORACLE or compare the database array that are natively available at AWS and compare it to what is available at OCI.

At the time OCI is ready for customers, there will be nobody or no companies who wish to use Oracle SaaS products!

OCI will finally be terminated and all people in Cloud(and related) BUs will finally be laid off, sooner or later.

That is why oracle is never going to be a player in cloud - too focused on short term financials and the almighty EPS and share price to actually make good business decisions - that’s the self serving nature of the 3 stooges and oracle’s demise. Get the hell out of there, now!

I don’t understand oci management. They keep telling we are hiring and growing and on other hand there are layoffs.

The problem is they need to have infrastructure available when customers need it. It's a catch 22. Can't have infrastructure without customers and you can't have customers without infrastructure. You need to invest in the long term knowing that eventually it will pay off. You also need a better cloud than the competition since you have p-ss-d so many customers off over the years and they don't want to have to deal with you anymore.

OCI has been burning lots of money, I mean a lot of it. Very high salaries for new hires and so many people. When they did not bring in revenue as much they are gonna be required to reduce the cost. And guess how that happens. 😜
