Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Most of us regret losing pay and security, not our job at BNYM

Maybe my location stands out in some way, I don’t know, but |I've noticed that people that did most of complaining about their job are now showing the most signs of fear about losing. Let’s face it, we all are scared about losing the sense of security and of course our source of income. If we took that out of the equation most people would be more than happy to leave BNYM. In that sense, maybe we should use this situation into putting our efforts in finding a new job. Most of us have marketable skills, si if we put enough effort in looking and applying we will find a job which won't make us miserable.

Maybe I am in a minority: I actually like my job, the industry, the people I work with.

Not so sure about BNY though, they seem to actually hate most of their employees.

As long as I can ignore THAT, I don’t mind working here and would be unhappy to be let go.

I’d rather have a paycheck with a job I hate than be unemployed.

Being unemployed makes it much harder to get hired by a good company, as they don’t want to hire people that have been laid off. You can argue that till the cows come home, but unemployed people are not at the top of anyone’s hiring list and get lowball offers by sh--ty companies.
