Try to relax and calm your mind

I know it is a stressful time but please try to relax and calm your mind. I am in HR and I interview people all the time. When people come in stressed out and nervous because they are so anxious to get a job it shows and it doesn't show well. The job market is really good right now so please know that YOU WILL BE HIRED, YOU WILL WORK AGAIN SOON. Please take some time this week and next to relax, enjoy some sunshine, and touch up your resume. Good luck to you and any others who were released from FMC this week.

5 minutes mark . shock

15 minutes mark . great all the workplace problems are no longer my problems.

30 minute mark . let’s tackle all the minutia Retirement, benefits, paperwork, contact info distributed to people I care about.

24 hour mark . Crikey I shouldn’t of believed the CEO when he said he wanted us to reshape Ford, empower our people and cut bureaucracy. The two of us on the team who believed him and aggressively implemented DevOps were eliminated. I should of listened to the LL5 when he protested DevOps because it was slashing his headcount needs. Instead I got caught in the cross fire.

48 hour mark . oh no I hope that the GSRs who followed me in my DevOps quest will not also be cut. Sleepless night Guilt and remorse for possibly getting others lined up for termination.

My lesson 100% loyalty to your LL5 is most important for retention at Ford. They control messaging going upwards. I read a thread about eliminating the LL5, LL3, LL1. That will be necessary if the CEO wants change.

My spouse is understanding and tells me, Honey you must be true to yourself. They do not deserve you.

Tomorrow will be better.

sorry but how can letting <1% of total SE Michigan Ford salaried employees be that hard. Again really sh--ty for ~300 people impacted this week but of the total 2300 US employees impacts, 1800 took the PRP buy-out, 100 were executive (LL5+) retirements (golden parachutes), 300 separations this week and 100 impact in Mexico. Surely there were <1% people who can be let go and really have no impact on the company. The rest 99% of us who are still here need to focus on delivering the smart redesign and make sure we don't have to this this again. As said before more than 1000 open automotive jobs in SE Michigan right now for all levels.

Having been let go in Wave 3 I can share what I went through. The first week was easier than expected. There was a lot to do -- buy a car, get insurance, elect retirement, decide between lump sum and annuity, etc.

The next two-three weeks were tougher.

I thought way to much on how lack of complete loyalty to my leadership team cost me my job. Also thought a lot about lack of succession planning. It got better as I relize I am better without Ford. Sad that it ended this way.
