Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Who has volunteered to be laid off, without success?

Who, and how, did you ask?

What was their reaction?

Did you quit yet?

Are you satisfied with your decision?

I asked my boss to be laid off. At the next round, he was laid off. So that didn't work! Still hoping though...

Congrats to the lucky group that was laid off this week!

I volunteered to be laid off. This was a few months ago. I was completely miserable in my job because I had to work 12-hour days and 6 day work weeks just to barely keep up with the workload. I had the work load of 3 people in a team of 25 +. I took it to my management team, but because I'm such a high performer and they were looking to promote me, they wouldn't hear of it. I ended up finding another job in a completely different industry. I have many transferable skills, and my new employer was more than happy to snatch me away from BNY. BNY has a horrible reputation in my area, many companies in the area are aware of the layoff situation so they were very sympathetic to me during the interview and hiring process and were happy to bring me on.
