Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Morale is in free fall

I’m a 10+ year associate and in all my time at the company I haven't seen morale this low. The people don’t see these changes working out for anyone, except maybe the company leaders, all of us are in some sort of a mode where we wait to see what will they impose on us next. Sad to see my colleagues unhappy to this point. Is this the case at other locations too?

Generally, the longer one has been with the company the more upset one is over the direction. 20 and 30 year associates poured their life into a company they beleived in when Mr. walton ran it... and now it's being run into the ground while they are being pushed out.

We have lost 8 associates that I know of. Moral is nonexistent. Over 10 years with the company, and I have never seen it this bad. Too many harsh changes too quickly. Sams is making some very bad choices. They want everyone to be responsible for everything, and that never works. I can't wait to see technology or Jewelry or Photo after this block scheduling goes into effect. Apparently they think that these areas are not "Specialized". I think that is just amazing. I fear that the leads will have a great deal put on their shoulders. With no raise to show for the added responsibility.

Our store has experienced the same morale drop. Since they've implemented this new block scheduling, good associates are walking out. I've been with this company 13 years and I have not seen progress, only the destruction of what used to be a great company. Greed has definitely taken a tole on this company and the employees who've worked so hard to gain profit for the top. Associates are being screwed over and it's not going to get any better. My advice, look for new employment, I am. Sam's is a sh-- hole now. And I hope karma catches up with all of the stingy a-- big wigs that have ruined so many lives.

This is the plan of sams/walmart that's why they changed the severance package to 5 weeks maximum period. No more one week per year of service. That came to an end once we transitioned the wireless program.

I agree with you about morale. A couple days ago John Frauder the c.e.o. came to las vegas for a free vacation. Oh I mean company business . Only showed up at one club. I wonder if he and his clique group had their p.t.o. cut. I doubt it. Business as usual . I hope everyone keeps voicing their displeasure with the anti associate, anti family. Oops I mean employee company this has turned in to.

Our club is in rough shape!! Associates aren't happy managers fight amongst themselves, and a club manager that misses more day then I've ever seen. They pulled all associate in and went over block scheduling, some made out others did not, fresh teamleads got there schedule's only to be brought in and told they where going to change again, in a matter of a week! I'm a meat associate, I was brought in gave me my schedule, I'm senior in my dept chose openings and only got choice of 4 days off mon, tue, wed, thur, told her my days off, then was told its not in stone yet because the company didn't realize we lack part time associates to fill the gaps, so 2 days there will only be an opening cutter and a closing cutter, and holiday's will likely have some very lite scheduled days.

How does a company this sizes roll out a major scheduling change and not realize what it'll do for business and there associates.

Ive been with sams a very long time and how many times have we seen them roll something out to only fall flat on there face and backtrack to the way things where being done prior. P

  1. We are in a tailspin. Many said they will leave, but only time will tell. Have to wait till 6-22, and maybe a couple weeks after that, so they can see if they like what they got. Mgt is a joke. Staffing is horrible. GM not doing what she promised when she arrived. And who knows what holes the parttimers will be put in too.

All the above is correct! the Company has loss it's way!!!! Shrink is out of control ! Managers hide half the time and when you do find one they have no answers! Sam worked hard to build the Company and the greed at the top has taken over ! every thing is a cluster F@#$%

It's terrible. My club doesn't even feel like a Sam's Club anymore. Just a big warehouse with very few associates. So many "members" are catching on to the lack of associates and are taking the opportunity to shoplift like crazy. CM's are dropping like flies in this cutthroat environment. It will be 100 times worse once your core associates leave due to this terrible block scheduling. Good luck endlessly hiring mediocre associates who barely care about the company.

I feel so happy and proud of people who leave this pathetic company and find a better life.

All the people I've spoken with at my club - midwest region - hate the changes. Many nightshift have quit. Most of us are waiting to see what happens.

It's the same here at my club. Associates are very upset. It's sad how this company has gone from being a family oriented company to not caring what happens to the associates.
