Back room now merchandisers

Since back room folks are now merchandisers does it seem right that a few year ex backroom associate should get better days off than a many year ex night crew associate? After all they are both now in the same group.

What I learned from this thread is many of you think the backroom associates don't do anything. I also learned you have no clue what backroom really does and are just jealous little brats about people having weekends off.

Backroom associates read your new job description it states you are a merchandiser not just backroom.

Everyone works together and seeing how you are a level C you should be required to do more that is what you are getting paid for. Anyone who drives a lift can unload a truck. Floor partners all ready pull their returns and soon they will be changing how damages are taking care of as well as returns.

Backroom room associates are not busy their is alot of dead time back there, but as soon as a manager strolls back their you pretend to be busy, at other clubs backroom associaties do audits amongst helping out on floor. Backroom associates need to work weekends and close just like everyone else, you are not a separate department you are under merchandising. Everyone is a team.

If you read the wire you will see that trucks are basically coming whenever they want throughout the day. And the club is fined if they aren’t unloaded within a strict time frame. Backroom will be busier than ever with the new schedule. Just like the rest of the club.

Except that miserable Jewelry Lead hag in denial on here. She can rot.

The back room associates are obligated to help the merchandising block. However, there is rarely a moment that the back room associates don’t have something going on with receiving/claims. They aren’t going to stop unloading trucks to have a back room person run a register. That would be inefficient and a logistical nightmare if you back up deliveries.

People are looking at it from the persepective of having an overnight receiving, which will be nonexistent.

And even if a back room person has to help fold clothing, who cares? They are still making more money than the merchandisers to do the same job.

Backroom is in the merchandising block but it is also a block within that.

Work groups are different than job codes. If they were the same then day stock associates as well as everyone else in Stock and Assist would be doing RTVs, liquidation, damages, online returns, etc. as well as Receiving c-gare--es, t-b-cco, fresh trucks, all Walmart DC trucks, were trucks, FedEx, UPS, Coke, Pepsi, etc. and all other trucks and deliveries. That never happens.

@axr wrong they are now in the same job group. There are 4 groups now, and backroom is with the merchandise group. The groups are:

Member Experience

Merchandise

Fresh

Specialty

Need pallet profiles fixed in Hardlines?

** Backroom can do that.

Need clothing folded and merchandised by color and size?

** Backroom can do that.

Reset in HBA this morning?

** Backroom can do that.

Just got in 300 Palm Trees, need to be put out for sale....

** Backroom can do that.

PS - And before you say that they will not have to go to the front for level callls because that is Member Experience work group, unless it is a legal/licensing issue ie. Optical certified or Pharmacy Tech etc you can and will be expected to help other group areas. There is always room for people to transfer merchandise from cart to belt or help watch the self checkout area.

Back Room Associates have separate job codes than Day Stock Associates. Therefore their schedules have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

I think backroom associates are holding onto a dream that will end (decreased hours) sooner than they think.
