Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How do you get out?

I promoted with the company not too long ago, relocated with CapRelo, the whole nine yards. If I quit or am terminated I owe relocation back, does this also translate to stepping down? Does anyone here know how long you have to pay back relocation? Im done. Tapping out.

@3oxp

You do know that changing your job duties is not against the law, right?

You do know that they are not required to offer you severance, that there is no law against doing so, right?

You are aware that companies are not required to have interviews when they replace or move people around, right?

So you are going to have a class action lawsuit on what grounds? So when a grocery store decides that it is no longer profitable to be open 24 hours a day, so they decide to close at midnight and open at 6am, all the workers that use to collect carts in the parking lot overnight are able to hire an attorney and sue the company?

Wow, if this is how you think business works, I hope you do get offered a severance package. Knowing that mouth breathers like yourself are carrying keys with the company will keep me awake tonight, reevaluating if I should own stock with the company as part of my 401k retirement portfolio 😳

I'm still trying to figure out how Sam's is allowed to change a managers job title and duties without having interviews for the position or offering severence. Thought if your job was no longer, they had to offer severence. My position name changed... My duties changed.. hours have changed... Yet no compensation if we don't want the job. All BS. Someone needs to get a class action suit started.

@jnz You’re Tour of Duty is 2 years, you may be discharged from the financial part of the CapRelo after 22 months if you agree to accept a position in a Level A Work Group.

Not sure if it's still the same, but if you leave the company, voluntarily or involuntarily, within 1 year of relocating, then you would have to pay back all of the relocation. If you leave the company between 1 and 2 years of relocating then you pay back half. If you leave after 2 years then you owe nothing. 3 years ago I stepped down into a PT role within 8 months of my 2nd relocation and did not have to repay any as I was still with the company.

HOLD ON you are doing a good job. hang in there, continue being a team player, it gets better, your doing such a good job.

when I saw what they did to the demo ladies 20 some years ago I knew not to trust this company. I did not realize how rite I would be. what about the SICK HOURS the found away to steel like over 192 hours plus the other HALF that did not roll over to personal hours. (they got none of mine). trust them when they say your doing a good job and keep trying just a little harder your so close.

PS. RUN

Why anyone would want to be a mgr with this company is beyond me. I am a manager and the way the company treats hourlies is a joke. They want everyone to be excited about there job and no one even knows if there job will still exists the following year. How can an hourly associate be excited about anything could it be that 2% raise waiting on them.

It’s taken from the first check you receive after you submit your letter of resignation or request to be demoted. You will be charged an interest rate of 5.9% APR compounded by the number of months you kept the relo funds. They will issue you a IRS Form 17-U812 that will deduct any other profits that you made by accepting the CapRelo that must be submitted to the Office of Transfers no layer than 30 days after returning to hourly status. Your Sam’s Share Bonus will be prorated to the lowest VBM (volume by million) club tier you previously were, and you will be charged a Metro Club Rural Volume Variance Fee of $375. You will be on DSP (double secret probation) for 6 months with a rate adjustment of zero.zero apon completion.

You are welcome.
