Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford should drop subsidiaries such as FordDirect to save money.

What real purpose do they (FordDirect)? That company spends a great deal of Ford’s money and is top heavy in management with most managers lacking proper experience and credentials for their salaries. It’s seems silly to continue funding a subsidiary that primarily outsources the main work. I’m sure Ford has the ability to either perform the work itself or better yet — outsource the work they pay FordDirect to outsource! Just sayin’

FordDirect also allegedly cheats on their sales attribution, claiming false credit for Ford sales they contribute to—since no one at Ford or on their board has the skill to call them out on it. Their people hardly work, and pay very little for healthcare & other benefits. Most work from home one day a week (at least), and most don’t come to work on Fridays. Pop in there on a Friday afternoon, and you’d think FordDirect went out of business. Ford Motor Company employees: Do like the GTB/Team Detroit/Universal McCann/Digitas media & analytics employees who were laid off or forced out—jump on the FordDirect bandwagon & let Ford Motor Company increase your pay & support your families for part-time work (we hear). The smartest people no longer work there, so you can join & look like a rock star—seriously!

FordDirect also overpays its people in leadership roles. None of them will ever leave because they make 2-3x their salaries from prior roles—especially HR, Legal, Strategy, CFO, and analytics. And the hot mess running PMO was named an SVP allegedly because of her relationships with male senior Ford execs. FordDirect is not the company it once was, and it no longer serves Ford or its dealer body with value and integrity, in my humble opinion.

FordDirect helps the smallest dealer only. Medium to large dealers don’t see any value in FordDirect. Their leadership team is the worst in automotive—they don’t understand the dealer Digital space. Read their GlassDoor reviews

That place on Sheldon road is another Ford owned company. TD or something. It used to be a Ford plant then Visteon and then Ford bought it back.

What purpose do they serve? What value do they add? How do they fit in Ford’s future plans? Are they an asset or liability?
