Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Giving up good employees too easily

Who else is surprised at how easily IBM is letting some of the best employees walk away? It used to be that you would fight to keep your best, match or beat competitor's offer, do something to make sure people you wanted to stay, stayed.

Today, nobody even tries. They're actually happy to see people leave without having to pay them severance.

It's sad that nobody running this company realizes just how bad this is for our future...

IBM is great if you are straight out of college, or content where you are at in your career and don't expect much of a raise for 5 years or so and can afford (have savings) to be RA. Otherwise, it's terrible and gets worse every year.

I agree. Work at home and do your job and you are safer than someone a manager can see and learn to dislike.

When you work remote you are basically immune to a lot of the interoffice BS and politics.

Get out of the building people and find a decent manager to work under is the way to go.

Senior management knows that all the good things happen thanks to their efforts . Bad outcomes are a result of worker incompetence or laziness.

Anyone band 10 and lower can be replaced by someone else who is younger, more obedient and cheaper. Good leaders (as they view themselves) always compel workers do the right thing. If something goes wrong, it's the workers who didn't pay attention. That's why we hear "it's all about execution" so often. "Do as you are told and do it right" is the message.

It worked so well in 1950. IBM can't understand why it is not working now.

Good people are leaving because they were not being taken care of.

Nepotism is run amok as spouses with zero experience being placed into position's they have no business holding. Most us are on the sidelines just watching the sh!t storm and laughing at the incompetence. There is no future at IBM for anyone not connected to the right people.

Well said @edl

The board is coasting on IBM legacy. They will run out the clock and retire with a generous severance and pension. The corruption is rampant and arrogantly visible.

Stock price is proof of 7 years of poor choices and sheer ignorance.

This site should really be picked up by media.
