Is there any logic that could be applied to the method in which they are performing the layoffs? Any way to tell which offices are up next, or are in more danger of being hit by cuts that others? From the layoffs that happened so far I couldn’t make out any sort of pattern

If you are looking for patterns look at total comp and demographic
There's no rhyme or reason to it. A (very good) manager at my location had stripped her office of personal effects and was hoping to get a package. She had been taken off a major project a few months ago, and she thought for sure that was the last nail in her coffin. She's still here, and her counterpart, who we all thought would not get laid off, is gone.
Look in mirror (at your office) ... ok, yes, you're in danger.
