Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

No logic to these layoffs

There's no rhyme or reason to it. A (very good) manager at my location had stripped her office of personal effects and was hoping to get a package. She had been taken off a major project a few months ago, and she thought for sure that was the last nail in her coffin. She's still here, and her counterpart, who we all thought would not get laid off, is gone.

That’s how it works. If you are not among the protected few, you can be chosen by HR if you do not violate the demographic rules. Thats a huge pool of possible targets for layoff. Some get lucky, some not so much. Seems like no logic, but it’s actually according to plan... even the “random” twist at the end.

Agreed. I know somebody is going to say she wasn't on some list or she's friends with her manager or whatever, but somebody very close to their boss in asset servicing was just let go, so I'm not so sure they help either.
