Unused vacation when leaving

You only get severance if you are laid off.

And another thing to keep in mind, a policy they put in place in 2017 and never told hourly staff about it—if you resign, you will not receive any unused vacation. In addition, once you give notice, you’re not allowed to take any vacation you may have earned. So if you decide to leave the company, take all of your vacation before you give notice. And then you don’t really have to give notice because they don’t owe you anything. When I leave, my last day will be the day I tell them.

Bumped from @YYS69Z0-kgne for important info.

Make sure you wait until the next pay period. If you take any PTO before leaving, payroll will only pay you for productive work hours. Even if your PTO was approved, the "new policy" will not pay you any PTO.

I’ve used all my vacation time. Friday is my last day. I’m not giving notice. F--- them. I’m never returning. After 26 years, I’ve had enough.
