Do you believe other companies make infinite financial resources available so managers can make everyone happy?

Infinite? No. But other companies do prioritize annual cost-of-living increases for all employees. And when we’re running at huge margins, sitting on tons of overseas cash, and paying the entire ELT tens of millions each annually, I’m going to say yes, this is a realistic minimum expectation. ESPECIALLY after the CEO and CPO made a huge public statement about the coming focal cycle, intentionally setting high expectations.

This has nothing to do with making infinite resources available. It has to do with the CEO and CPO getting up in front of the entire company and setting an expectation that Cisco’s present performance would yield a raise or equity increase for the majority of the employees.

We aren’t human shields for the lack of infinite resources, we are human shields because Chuck and Fran said one thing, and did the exact opposite in action.

I remember Chuck and Fran saying they expected the FOCAL to touch 75% of employees. Looks like I’m not one of them. I don’t have a 1:1 scheduled with my manager. In fact, I cannot remember the last one.

Generally the manager has to “review and send” web letters in the tool. So there is a small chance you manager didn’t do that yet.

But much more likely that you didn’t get anything. Contrary to how Chuckles and Fran positioned it during the Beat (making it seem like the whole company would get raises), Most people didn’t get much / anything. This put many managers in harm’s way. Turning us (I am a manager) into human shields to take the bullets of disappointment and outrage from the ICs. As such, I am quitting. My last day is next Friday.

PS — rumors you hear about workforce reduction and pay cuts in sales and services are true.

If you’ve had a one2one with your boss since and inc. Tuesday and nothing was mentioned, then probably not.
