Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Accounting Associated: 3 weeks out and no manager has addressed my job with me.

No manager has spoken to me about my position, which I KNOW is going away. I’ve spoke to 3 other accounting associates in my market and they’ve all been spoken to a month ago. This morning, I received an email from Workday to update my talent profile. According to which, my job changed 6 days ago and now is called Frontline Member Service. I’m frustrated because how can I perform a job if I don’t know what the heck it entails? I have so many questions about the ethical aspects of Sam’s. Also, say goodbye to the core beliefs.

I am beginning to think that someone needs to sue sams club for the way it has treated its employee's. for years I have seen the older mangers go, (what kind of future do the young managers have with that kind of track record) have seen older associates go by eliminating their jobs, and now this "do someone else's job" and then someone else do your job "that doesn't have a clue". kinda seems like they just want to hire new people in at the lowest rate and also get the members to check themselves out. for they are working for the company for free. not completely, the member is actually paying the company so they, "the member," can work for free!

I was told same thing. Our cos' would be doing accounting. Most of our cos' have quit, so now they need to train people to do that job nevermind accounting. I'm guessing they will be doing only deposits in the future. But I could be wrong. Looks like we're not in Kansas anymore. Whose the wizard that thought this up.

@cgs

There is no requirement to have business office duties done by 7am, so why would a COS not have time after getting everything ready prior to 7am and then got do business office duties?

@2cjv

They refused to accept your two week notice? Congratulations, refusing to let someone willingly quit is a pretty rare occurrence. Then again, since you refuse to train others, they may have chose the lesser of two evils by refusing to let you quit.

From what I been hearing from actual Sam's Club associate I was told that Front End Lead and Management has to learn Accounting. I doubt it can happen since nobody has been train yet! It is going to s--- when they try to figure out what is going on. Heck even help over the phone is helpful!

Also, I'd contact the Market Manager with an email to let them know you've not been talked to. My guess is that because they've changed their minds so many times, they don't want to give out false information. Because people are dropping like flies, we will still do our job with the same pay but a different title come June 22nd. I asked the CM if daily accounting will be done differently once 6/22 comes and he said nothing will change. So, tell me how a COS will do that job in 45 minutes. They start at 6 then have to get drawers, etc.... by 6:45? No way... PLUS, they need to train to DO the job. If you've not trained anyone, then you're not going anywhere. You'll just have c-appier hours.

You are NOT a cart runner. I don't know where people get their info. I am an accounting associate. I was spoken to a few weeks ago. YES, we are going to be a "frontline member service" associate. Fancy name for a cashier. I do know at my club, no one will be available to do accounting, so I don't think I'm going anywhere just yet. As my CM said, "it's all a part of cross training". YES, COS's are responsible for the deposit but if they cannot do it, we are "back up", Nothing will change in my club as no one is cross training for anything =/

Ethical work habits went out the door years ago. They had to with all the mistreatment and unethical behaviors of Club managers, market managers, regional managers AND HR especially.

From my understanding of the change is that you can be scheduled as cashier, runner, sco host, t-b-cco or accounting. As a best practice associate (as in, that is your primary job) you should continue to get scheduled in accounting but you will also be scheduled where needed. I am a member champ and got the morning shift. So I know I am basically a cashier now. :(
