Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Hate the changes

I am a membership champion. I am now basically a cashier. I didnt work as hard as I have for as long as I have to be promoted to cashier. I have now lost two positions in the club due to changes. And I have a feeling my manager is going to want me to still drive metrics, and keep track of top performers etc. I am not going to do it. I will show up, do my job and leave. And in the mean time look for another job. They did the same thing to our PTC. They are constantly asking her to do things she used to do while trying to do her new job duties.

I'm gonna say this. Some of our cart people are awesome! They are an equally important part of the chain that helps us all serve our Members. They have a hard job, and I want hem to know how much I appreciate them. We all should appreciate one other, whatever capacity each of us has learned to excel in. Whatever changes that continue to happen, one thing should be clear, and that is unhappy members don't pay our bills. I am glad to help my team, and anyone can call it "Kool-Aid", but at the end of the day I want to work with a team. Getting each others' backs is the only way to do it. If I need help, I can rely on others as well. I am struggling to get help lately with scarce staffing, and helping other team members is pushing back my responsibilities, but the Member is still number one.

This is the attitude I was referring to in another thread. Who cares what job they ask you to do as long as you’re making the same money? None of these positions require a degree. The irony of all this is that the most physical job (lot attendant)-bottom of the work chain...those workers never complain about their jobs. I’m sure none of them are on here threatening to leave either. The problem is with yourself, not with the company. You put yourself in an ivory tower, thinking you’re more important than the peons you work with.

Yeah “done my time” and “get sent downstairs” are all terms of endearment right?

What cashier doesn’t like being called “half witted” right?

As for me, I am quite happy with my job and have little patience for posters on this site that paint a jaded picture of what the company means to many.

You need to post on an anonymous website that if you are sent downstairs, you are going look somewhere else?

You long for the days when the club was more about family, how does calling your fellow associates “half witted” and “the COS’s don’t give a damn” create a better family atmosphere?

Exactly, replaced by a machine that I still have to clean and unjam because managers run as far away from it as they can. Clean up COS's messes because they aren't trained on it either or just don't f---ing care. Missing registers, torn bills stuck, dealing with half witted half trained cashiers. Do that long enough and yes you tend to not want to have anything to with downstairs. Just because I'm upstairs, you think I look down? Some clubs have there office downstairs. No biggie for me. Maybe if the company spent more money on training certain areas, all of us would be happier. You sound as bitter as me by attacking people so maybe you should consider another company.

“Invited upstairs to work”

Did you put your invitation in a sc-apbook? Did the invitation come with a “Plus 1” or only just for you? Did your GM send you a “Save this Date” postcard prior to your invitation? I see you worked previously in the Bakery, was there a cake waiting for you upstairs after you accepted the invitation? Please tell me that they didn’t make you decorate your own cake after the big invitation upstairs! I mean, you had to work so hard to climb your way upstairs, it would be so insulting to make you go back downstairs ever again!

“It takes brains” wow, now that statement has douche chills written all over it!

“Accounting takes some brains”

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ouch that one really hurt my dumb, small brain, feeling 🤣

Because you know how to work your club’s short and long, make sure that items given to business members are put into the 1067 account and not rung up as club supplies, makes you superior to no one.

You are upstairs looking down at all of us and moaning that you “have to do my job and then go do someone elses” doesn’t make you the original douche huh 🙄🙄🙄

Well you and your “brains” were replaced by a machine....

Bye Felicia!

Awww sounds like you were never invited upstairs to work. Best at physical work I'm sure. Accounting takes some brains. Well I've got both because I've done both the mental and the physical work. I've given 110% to this company for 9 yrs so don't call me spoiled. They don't care about me or you. You and I are replacable in a hot second so stop being a douche to those who care enough to voice their opinion on a company they ONCE enjoyed working for.

Oh look, it’s another victim who didn’t get their free Doritos and cupcakes up in the break room.

My guess is that while you claimed your way upstairs, you complained at every step along the way.

“Burgers and hot dogs? How come they get steaks cooked for them over at Walmart??”

“The picnic is the same day as I have to close, it’s not fair that everyone in Marketing gets to go, but I can’t because I work!!”

Did you see what Sheila is wearing today at the registers? I have to work in the Bakery and I’m not even allowed to wear capris!!”

Save yourself the struggle to climb back up those stairs ever again and quit. The company needs less shallow and egotistical spoiled brats that throw a temper tantrum for lack of snacks being given to them!!

Go get bent!!

The last 3 replies-you are A**HOLES 😑

You'll probably say the same for me but I'm in Accountimg and now have to do my job and then go do someone elses. I've been with the company for 9 yrs and climbed my way to the office doing cell phone sales, bakery and photo. Don't think we haven't done our time. S---s that this company dumps multiple duties on one person and calls it growth without a pay increase. I fully expect my pay to decrease when I'm sent downstairs and if so then yes I will look elsewhere for a job. Our club has yet to have any food, snacks or just a get together since our PTC left. It is not a family atmosphere where you feel loyal and welcome. Sam's is all about money in there pocket straight out of ours.

So you think you are better than a cashier lmao. At your next job leave your ego at the front door. Why anyone who works at a retail establishment thinks they are better than anyone is beyond me and to actually have a ego GTFOOH

Cool story, it’s a shame we are losing you to another company. Please be sure to send us a postcard when you reach Utopia, I’m sure it will be all you ever hoped it would be.
