Is your department meeting EEI targets?

The average EEI in my department for the year is 1.08, far below the 1.2 target. Under my manager we are only hitting 1.06, which is still more overtime than I like working. There are a few of us in my group who will retire within the next couple of years, so there is no incentive to work more than 40 hours per week. Which groups are actually hitting an average of 1.15 or 1.2? Seems crazy that large numbers would actually work that much!

Not sure if anyone watched the CTO Q2 Town Hall with the VP of engineering but at the 14th min mark it's worth listening to. The BP clearly states that EEI has been misused by managers and IF your manager is asking you to work the extra hours to immediately contact your tier 3 manager or HR. I'm keeping a copy of the transcript handy for my mid year review. I work overtime as needed to get the job done, I refused to play their stupid metric game.

There’s the troll again. You are completely wrong on this one, as I’ve been hitting the EEI target for over a year now (with real work accomplished). I just don’t like it, and can see what it does to morale and my measly budget. It is one of the stupidest metrics Honeywell has ever created.

4jdp, you must be one of the lazy ones. If you don't have anything to do after a measly 40hrs, go get more work and help your team you lazy old man.

You surely waste most of your 40 hrs putzing around, talking, socializing, texting your mistress, etc. And only work likely 30 of those hours after long lunches.

So the 46 hours now gets slackers like you to actually get close to doing 40 hours off real work.

@4dke, not quit. since you do not earn vacation time anymore, you are not giving back anything.

but it would still seem to be timecard fraud, just get it in writing from your boss prior to submitting the time sheet...lol.

my manager told me to make EEI higher just charge vacation and not actually take it. Like work the 40 on a project , charge it, and charge 4 -6hrs vacation without taking it. But hey , I am giving vacation back. That's not ethical!

OT should only be used when necessary. It is in most engineers nature to do whatever it takes to complete a project. They react negatively to forced OT that makes no sense.

teams have people doing 35% OT, yet their overall dept averages the 15%, so it's perfect world for union worker who benefiting from average, but get away with no overtime. Lead to lower morale with those lazy not do their part. time sheet should not let person submit card with under 115

I don't see why more people aren't challenging this and doing zero ot. If you get a negative review and are meeting all goals and milestones, or even beating dates, raise it to your manager's boss. Still no correction, raise another level of leadership. Eventually they'll yield as they are told not to use it against your individual performance at the top leadership level.

I don’t know if my Dept is meeting EEI goals because I could care less about some execs made up fantasy or million dollars bonuses. I was hired based on a 40 hour week and my paychecks show I am still paid based on a 40 hour week. I will work OT as needed for the project and other than that they can shove their EEI up their azzes.

Some don't have that much work and knock their project funding over budget charging over 40, then they reduce spend even more. Slippery slope.

The director has an EEI goal. If he doesn’t meet the goal then there will be flow down. Low EEI employees will be PIP’d because they don’t “work as hard” as their peers. When low EEI people leave or get laid off the high EEI people will get rewarded with more work. It’s a nice scam they have going.

Our manager has stopped talking about it. I think she got in trouble with HR for telling us how it works and what the goal is (6 hours/week).
