Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

My club is hemorrhaging experienced, knowledgeable associates, how about yours?

Didn't know about this place until recently and following along what's going on at other clubs around the country has been a revelation. As my title says, my club is losing experienced and knowledgeable associates at a steady clip and many are actively looking elsewhere. Was this the plan all along or something? Cuts, drawbacks, and broken promises to shed associates who are making too much money?

We are losing about 1 person every other day lately. People just aren’t tolerating any sort of inconvenience and jumping ship in fear of the changes.

Down to 83 active associates. Colorado based club. Won’t say anymore to location.

It’s rough. I’m on 23 days straight getting all the OT I want.

Was just in a club and there were holes everywhere and pallets with stock lining the aisles. I even saw multiple pallets for cafe that should have been in a cooler or freezer sitting between two coolers! It’s not getting any better, several associates said that multiple full timers and part timers had put in their notice - the fulltimers because they either couldn’t or wouldn’t work 4-12:30 or 3-11:30 shifts and the part timers because they had second jobs or were going to school so they couldn’t have open availability. I was surprised to see how ragged the store looked.

Not just the experienced associates. We are lacking even warm bodies to fill positions.

Down to less than 100 people employed from around 160 back in March.

Not all people who have left are related to the changes but a good chunk are.

To: "They seem to be preparing to convert all clubs to E-commerce for Walmart to compete with Amazon."

I believe you, but Walmart will never be able to compete with Amazon. Amazon customer service is among the best. Walmart is the worst.

It makes things easier for them with less pay outs if you remove all the long term associates before you close a building and pay out severance.

They seem to be preparing to convert all clubs to E-commerce for Walmart to compete with Amazon.

They eliminated multiple departments. They cut the annual raise to 2 percent. They cut payroll hours and make it impossible to get an annual bonus. Yes. Associates with higher pay and responsibility are leaving and this will also cause store profit to decrease...and thus your profit sharing.

They will pocket the wages and the bonuses . They will gradually scale down to a basic grocery store to eliminate as much inventory as possible. Then they’ll convert to e-commerce. Be ready. They won’t warn you but it’s pretty apparent.

They could care less about experience. All they care about is money.

Yes they want high paid people gone why wouldnt they. They have people making 11 bucks an hour that are really excited to work at a Sams or Walmart

Seems like it was what they wanted to happen. Clubs need those knowledgeable associates.
