Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Quick question....

If what people are saying, about our commitment to DSD and our continued investment....why does WC still only have 6 pick lines? Half of which are not used. The expansion is and has been used solely for storage of pallets of product. 🤔

Had a driver tell me just today, “of course we’re leaving DSD”. “Look at the location of that branch”, “Walmart and Kroger distribution centers within an hour drive. Only boxed trucks we own are leased. 🤔

Snyder rep told me today, they are in one on one meetings next week about selling back their routes.🤔

All seems to me to point to an exit from DSD.

If so, that’s six months. Keebler knew that far in advance. Let’s see...

You missed the point.....! Not so surprised though, you’ve missed a lot more than that! DSD is ending!

We've had stay in touch app for years! Stop with the fake news! We're not Keebler or nestle!! We have power brands!! We're committed to dsd!

I just had a great conversation with the Nestle DM. They had of course no idea it was happening until the merchandisers and reps knew. What he did know was....

Nestle just purchased a lot of new, refrigerated trucks. I said a lot of people post with cars and phones they felt their job was safe. He laughed. Said what are you going to do, gotta keep going till the end. Phones and IPads are indeed free. Cars are leased, big deal. Keebler also purchased stay in touch app just 3 months before they left dsd. He said he heard Mondelez is next, guess we will see! For those asking your DM, he (not many woman DM) doesn’t know anymore than you. If you are looking for security, spend your time looking for a new job! More efficient use of time! DSD is ending! The sooner you embrace this the better off you will be!

We're still years away from warehouse! Eventually but years away!! You're a bit premature. We're rhe biggest snack company. It's going to take a while to dismantle us.

Ever since they started closing smaller branches and enlarging these DC, that’s when they began their work. Renting storage units and “shuttling” product 7 or 8 hours away is a warehouse model, not DSD! Everything we’ve seen from then on moved us one step closer. CAO and EDI are the final pieces. It won’t be long! Yep, we’ve been saying it for 2 years. Would you rather have known like some of us 5 years ago? That’s how long the process has been underway.

That’s what makes their lies so frustrating. Lots of us saw it, meanwhile others are hanging onto the lies being thrown at them.

Last we were told I thought it was an average of $50,000 but you are probably right. There are some reps out there that have been around a log time. If I were them I’d be a little stressed, they will go after the highest salaries. You won’t need to pay anyone that kind of money to take pictures of what is programmed.

Here is the thing

DSD has been changing and it will for us.

Very doubtful everyone will be eliminated out in the field

The sales position will most likely be phased out/ changed .

We will Probobly still have a job

But most will probobly leave because the money wont be there.

Possibly glorified merchandisers and thats about it.

I’m sorry this is stressing some out. At the end of the day it’s business. Back in the day, DSD was great, just not anymore. Retailers loved it! They didn’t have big distribution centers and we did, plus we gave them service. Of course not for free like some have suggested. They pay an added premium. Nowadays they need the margins back, and see the added value of building their own DC. They can charge slotting fees, pay less for the product and hire a bunch of grocery clerks to stock. Have you seen the push Walmart has started to hire people right out high school? They will go first. Meanwhile every rep is valued at $50,000. Cars, insurance, PTO, etc.. That’s a chunk of change Mondelez will save.

The really sad part is.....Mondelez has been positioning itself for this change for a long time and is trying to keep people from knowing. That’s the sad part. What’s stressful for some is not knowing, yet they know.

Remember one thing....it’s easier to find a job when you have one. I’m glad I’ve been able to help my FT merchandisers settle into something ahead of the news. Unlike others claim....I really do value them!
