Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Employee pride locomotive.

Who do they think they are kidding with this thing? They have pictures of blue collar workers on the side. Give me a break.

I feel like there should be a Paid Programming Infomercial disclaimer on the side and the words “these people are paid actors. Actual results may vary. Side effects of working here may include having no pride in the company and loss of appetite.”

The reason they see no shame in thier game here is simple. They own a culture of "Us vs. Them". In crowd vs outsiders. La familia, or strangers. Have, and will always have not. Bought in vs on the fence or not.

They see nothing wrong with this pride garbage. Not the product, place or promotion. Timing means nothing. Because they feel theyve disposed of the outsiders.

This is just another example that exudes thier core beliefs.

All pride is lost at my terminal. Even the guys that used to be the 100% company worshipers are changing their tune. I Know if I owned a company I would want happy employees not bitter employees. We’ll see how this all plays out here in the next few years. I don’t know of anyone outside of the railroad that’s gets treated half as bad as we do. When I tell friends and family about my experiences here they say why don’t you quit and I say well it used to be a great place to work I guess I am always thinking it will go back to the way it used to be. I realize now that it won’t be like it once was. I have started to apply for other employment I can’t wait to be done. I have 20 years in and I can’t bring myself to complete the next 21. I think the reason I stayed so long is because everyone at work would say man you can’t quit this is a good job with a good retirement and benefits. Well it’s a ok job with ok benefits and a bad lifestyle I think you almost have to be partly brainwashed to continue working here. I’m glad I snapped out of it and am leaving soon. Good luck guys!

Layoff everyone, then roll out a special locomotive saluting them.

There is no employee pride at UP anymore, at least not as far as the internet is concerned.

It will take much more than a locomotive and some cheap hot dogs to repair morale. It doesn't appear that the people running UP fully appreciate the extent to which their organization is being undermined by their workforce policies.
