Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Just a temporary solution

Did you notice that most of the new employees see Honeywell just as a temporary option before they can move on to better things?

When did that happen? People used to see this as a great place to stay long-term and build a career. I'm sad to see that's not true anymore...

Not a millenial by any stretch but 10 years ago accepted that long term careers at any one company are a thing of the past.

I move every two or three years to a better job and have recruiters at my door.

The ONLY reason to work at a company that s---s this bad, if the particular job is something that fits in to your career agenda and you can plug a knowledge or experience gap you could not fill somewhere else.

It's sad, I have met a lot of smart and talented but disengaged, disillusioned and disappointed people at this company.

It doesn't have to be that way!

This place has become a toxic waste dump. 15 great years all down hill the past five.

You only stay at Honeywell for 2 years to get the experience and resume look. You only stay longer if you believe that you are currently moving up and do not care about work life balance.

It's readily apparent that there is no reason to stay long term. There are no incentives to stay any length of time. New hires learn early from the existing employees that Honeywell will s--- you dry at work and then toss you overboard at the slightest hint of making more money.

Even employees that have managed to stay with the company for as little as 5 years have stories about how Honeywell has taken more benefits away from employees to prop up the quarterly numbers.

What used to be a premiere company to work for has vanished.

Duh all jobs are temporary now by design. Why would you stay with no pension? There is zero incentive to stay with a company.

I’m already training and researching moving to a government job for the pension. Will jump in the next six months. Pay is better than I expected just takes a long time to get on board

reposting to clarify a little better.

what do you expect, there is no inducement for longterm career, no pension, no EARNING vacation time ( not unlimited... if NOT approved) and NO growth opportunities. in other words their is NO carrot to keep people around.

yes, we have been involved with innovative technologies in the past, but today there are many startups and doing all sorts of interesting and innovative work. Those companies are not sitting around complaining about their version of EEI, they are trying to be first to market with new products and services and they are willing and able to pay for OT & good benefits to get people motivated to do the work!

I was always quite sad ( maybe jealous) &happy to see my younger engineers leave (no promotion opportunities for even for Block 1&2, moving from E1 to E2) , to better opportunities. I advised them to aways take care of your self first, to invest in themselves and change jobs a couple of times and find a company that is a good fit for them.

Time is fleeting and working in a toxic environment away from family and friends is no way to live.

For one case that I’m sure of, it’s this fricken EEI bs.

They were not told the work week would be 46 hours when they accepted the job. Talk about bait and switch!
