Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Have you made your scumbag manager feel good lately?

Why are raises a big secret and management won't discuss any salary plans? We all find out anyway that some chosen dude got a 10% raise and rsu's - so why no just admit it's based on favoritism and perception - not on performance or accomplishments? At least there'd be no illusions that the masses will be given equitable pay for their work and then people would leave for companies that have pay based on valid criteria. But they stay because they believe the hype that "maybe next year we'll get a bucket of money to give you a raise"

I really like this post. Why not just say that your raise is dependent on following your manager's tail. Maybe they should add an item to the list of stuff you are supposedly evaluated against like:

  • How well did you make your manager feel? Did you give you manager enough complements? Did you ever disagree with your manager (bad)? Did you ever contradict your manger in public (bad)?

What the hell, why not just make it a formal requirement for the job?

I think the managers know more than they let on. They are most likely told not to say anything to anyone, or else. A lot of fear tactics and intimidation going on.

Completely and totally corrupt - no fairness, no equity, no transparent process - pure favoritism and asskissing - starts with egomaniac LE and then there are his clones SC and MH.

I don't think that most M3/M4 managers have any more of a clue what's going on as the rest of us. They are just puppets for those above them. My manager gave the team a cast iron guarantee that there would be no layoffs on a Monday, then on the Thursday we lost 2 good engineers. The manager is either a very good liar or has zero influence on what's going on.
