Hiring Freeze - thawing out???

CSE position

Went through 7 interviews and was told I had the job. Offer imminent but manager informed me hiring freeze was initiated (May 9th).

Can anyone help me understand if this is typical, duration of freeze/thaw, etc?

2wk freeze is going on 5wks. Wondering if I should just move on?

Sincerely thanking anyone for insight in advance.

Thank you to everyone for the responses. I was excited to join Cisco but it looks like it will not happen at this point.

Depends what group/technology/region... my team has a couple reqs open that we just filled from external and the CX org in my country has been hiring like crazy.

The reason for the hiring freezes is almost always a LR. Every time they choose to "reorganize" they make certain there are no positions available. After the 30 day window to find a new position ends the positions miraculously reopen.

Take that into consideration if you're interviewing with Cisco and encounter a delay because of a hiring freeze - they are literally firing someone so they can bring in you for less pay.

If that is a place you want to work, you just have to wait a little while... But always keep in mind next time it might be you.

The hiring freeze is nothing. Imagine dealing with non-stop re-orgs & layoffs.

It’s a continual reoccurrence, and the rules change every time...

Is this freeze an annual reoccurrence?

Trying to understand why I was told 2wks...

And previously open reqs will be reassessed so it won’t be guaranteed anyway.

Hiring freeze will be lifted by first quarter fiscal. Expect the thaw to be in August.
