Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Do you feel that there is an open dialogue between you and your supervisor here at Xerox?

Is your voice heard at Xerox? Be frank.

Rather talk to Ronald McDonald. Manager is clueless.

No. A simple conversation about Webster exit and getting direct-hire IT under 100 would be refreshing. Perhaps they don’t know how to do the math, or prefer to continue gulping the koolaid when the signs are everywhere.

Not even close. My manager's head is so far up his boss' behind that I'm a distant afterthought when it comes to "being heard". I'm just biding my time until something better comes along. My manager has totally drank the Xerox kool-aid and it's embarrassing. Xerox isn't listening... you're not going to get anywhere by brown-nosing...

The rest of our environment is ccrrapp in my opinion. Our president is only focused on numbers (sales) and doesn't really care about anything else.

I am a rebadged employee, and I can honestly say that my Xerox “supervisor” as well as my Xerox HR are as responsive as they can be. I whole heartedly believe they are as much in the dark as we are. Prior to the changes, we were a family and supported our team, other cores, and our customers with all we could give.

We remain a family, and I know whatever is to come, they did not cause the situation. They can’t control the situation and at some point, they may have a worse future than I.

HCL offers bonuses for those that stick it out. Xerox is offering nothing to those that are left.

I refuse to feel animosity toward the Xerox management family at my core. Am I naive? Hell no. I feel as much concern for their future as I do for my HCL partners.

We will make it. We will come out on the other side stronger. It might be with a new company who takes over, it could be new positions, or a whole new employment opportunity but, my Xerox family will always be my Xerox family.

Having communication with my manager like nothing is going on but that is because she doesn't know a thing. The few who do at my location have Hope's for the future

I'm a first line manager and I haven't been in the loop on any of the IRIFs since JohnV took over. Most of them originate and are decided a couple levels above, at least in my area, and I have no idea they are coming. I also never receive any information on transformation, re-orgs, outsourcing and other activities with the company. I regularly get asked about these things in 1 on 1s with my team members but I never have answers and know as much as they do. Its all being done by upper management and as someone else stated they NDA a lot of it so it does not cascade to lower management levels. Thinking your direct manager has a lot of this information and is hiding it, I think would be a mistake in many cases. Most likely they find out same time as you do or maybe right before

If your manager is not having 1 on 1s with on a regular basis that is another problem. In that case I would go ahead and schedule a monthly 1 on 1 with them instead. Take some initiative if you want that interaction

In defense of managers/supervisors from a laid off person: if the supervisor has signed a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), they cannot disclose information. I'm sure everyone knows this, but when you have a good relationship with your boss, it feels personal when you find out after the fact your boss knew what was coming. The best way to cope is to compartmentalize - and understand it's business, not personal.

Horrible atmosphere - everything is definitely on a need to know basis & managements opinion is clearly that we the peons do not need to know.
