Not necessary accurate “on broken wing company” being a sole reason companies buy other firms. This is one reasons however others are synergies between the firms, desiring to get into a market, expand their capabilities, secure technology and staff are reasons firms by other firms.
CVS buying Aetna is an example. DXC purchased MMS at a premium for technology, knowing MMS beat them in recent procurements due to strategies, staff such as the leadership, and expanding footprint is another example.

Agreed - I am the poster of that original post...even though someone hijacked it and posted it as a main post loo. I had originally wrote that short story as a comment a few posts down. Yes, I agree with you on your points and I probably should have elaborated more in hindsight. Good call/catch on your part. Kudos as well for being able to point it out in a mature fashion as well. I feel like the art of being able to point out something in a constructive manner or even have a healthy debate has been lost.
