Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

what is chevron's policy for working from home due to injury.

sorry for posting a question not related to layoff here.... I got ankle fracture few days ago, but can walk in the house with a huge boot and a pair of crutches, and can work perfect from home. what is company policy about working from home? what process should I follow to get permission? does company need medical statement from physician? thanks

@7prp, I seriously doubt your accusation unless you were faking to be sick.

I received disciplinarily action for getting sick, so tread carefully at Chevron.

If you can get to work, what is keeping you home? Must be nice to be all lazy and comfy at home when everyone else has to typically limp in on crutches, and everything else to get to work so that they can collect a legitimate paycheck. Do you climb a lot of ladders at the office? If so maybe you should get permission to stay home and take sick leave.

Hey @rag, I haven’t been let go. My 29th service anniversary is next month. A previous post is stated correctly, Chevron hasn’t fully adopted telecommuting yet, and I think it’s counterproductive anyway. Unless your injury or post-op surgery medically requires you to stay home recuperating, it’s in the office for you, pal.

You can’t while off with an injury period and why would you anyway. You are also correct, this is a layoff site. Ask your boss instead of all the people who have been let go!

Keep up that lazy work ethic looking for excuses to stay home. Chevron doesn’t support working from home. They only allow that or insist you stay home after surgical operations that require physical recovery at home, and it’s not because the company cares about your personal comfort, but because they are looking to avoid a possible workers comp or disability claim against them. So buck up and get yourself into work.

Management has wide discretion...start by calling your direct report.
