lrm, Yes, 24 would be good one day for you in about 20 years if you get extremely lucky. Nothing wrong with having a dream!

@1sin, I’ve been around for almost 30 years and know how the company manages personnel and pay. Your PSG 22 target by eight years is a bit too high of an expectation. The average fast-learning and patient engineer should expect to wait about 10 years to be moved to a 22 pay grade. A slightly longer waiting time if you are less than ambitious or have stepped on a few people’s feet.

With all “the assumptions”, if you are not at least a 22PSG by eight years then you are usually looking for new employment because you either are not identified as a top performer or do not have a sponsor moving you ahead. I have seen a lot come and go for that very reason.

Demote the OP two PSG grades for not knowing how to formulate a clear question the first time. Better yet, run him off.

Agree psg 22 is what I’d expect. No way you would get 24 plus in 8 years staying at the refinery.

8 years in an engineering role in DS will be on average a PSG22. Give or take one PSG based on performance.

The question asked by the OP is too vague. Please qualify the question with asking for the PSG of a “job title” with 8 years experience. I dare say that there must be dozens of job titles in any downstream or refining organization. Which one are you asking about? Better yet, go inquire with HR, your supervisor or with trusted colleagues who know about the position. Why is it that some people like to take the long and difficult path to solving a problem?

24 would be ok, 25 would be good, 26 would be great.
