Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

I want to let every one know that a generous severance package was not given to employees during the layoff. Basically they were given a starting of two weeks of pay and then additional weeks for years in service. So a person with two years received two weeks pay, three years a months pay and so on. This is not very generous although it was not required. Along with the pay they offered job search assistance and insurance called COBRA. If you accept this severance you have to first sign a contract saying you will not speak badly of the company, and not persue any legal acctions against the company. In the fine print it reads "a subsidy for your continuation of COBRA benefits" "Note: You must elect COBRA to receive the subsidy." Doesn't sound promising. Plus if you are married getting benefits from a spouse is much better than COBRA. Thats it. A few weeks of pay more than likely two weeks to a month, possibly COBRA, and outplacement service. Yeah! Exciting. All that if you sign a contract to not sue the company for illegal practices of compensating, or not compensating EC's based on Registered students which is illegal.
