Just found this review about Charlotte Russe on Glassdoor.com, "As many people know, Charlotte Russe has fallen on some hard times since going private. Sales have been in the gutters for 3 years, and this past year has been the hardest. With sales doing so bad, we have had to cut expenses each year. We have had massive layoffs on 1/29/2009, 2/2/2010 and 2/4/2011, plus a few small layoffs that cleaned out some departments in between the mass layoffs. They had to freeze pay increases for the past year, so most people have not had a pay increase in almost 2 years. The attitude in the office is terrible, most people are looking for new jobs, and the turnover is very high. We have not received a bonus in 4 years, we no longer have stock options since we are private (so no more ESPP either), our 401k match is one of the lowest in the industry, and we do not promote from within. This is a dead end place of employment, and things are getting worse. Rumors are we will have another layoff soon because we are in the process of negotiating our way out of a couple hundred leases, so once those stores close, we will cut even more employees. I am looking for a new job because I cannot afford to get laid off because the severance is only 2 weeks."
