Realistically CCi’s executives and Board of Directors made risky decisions within the past four years, which helped create the turmoil the company is involved in today. A few poor decisions:
-
Increased budget for ATB’s, which created more increased starts, bad attrition and higher student loan default rates.
-
Major push of the STAR loan. Three years ago, Peter and Jack increased the campus’ budget to push personal STAR loans to nearly 40% of the students for each US campus. BAD idea. We can now see the results of higher student loan default rates.

Mickey Mouse education. Realistically, SmartBoards are nice, but place one board into each school for the MA and Bus 5.0 programs is highly not an effective way to produce “quality education”. I applaud CCi’s education mission to promote classroom interactive learning, but I highly doubt that the true learning from a typical CCi student engages top notch classroom discussions. Some of the CCi students can barely read and write at a six grade level. Some of the instructors are not qualified to teach as well. To be frank, most of CCi’s budget goes into Marketing. Instead of investing true academic support, the company places its budget on Admissions. CCi will always counter their academic approach by saying that the company invested over millions of dollars into training for CCi employees. My prospective, most of the training was bogus anyways. It appears that CCi’s education approach to training its employees falls short to the “quality education” it provides to its students. Next time Jack, don’t have Bill Buchanan train employees on ethic and doing the right thing training. As a FYI folks who think that I’m a disgruntle employee but here’s a thought for you Jim Wade, Sr. Vice President of Human Resources, you should never should allow the Executive Vice President of Marketing or any member of Admission teach about ethics. Most of Bill’s decisions are part of CCi’s in the first place.

Increased budget for Criminal Justice and Business degree programs. Let’s be frank, CCi’s bread and butter is solely designed for allied health programs such as the Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Massage Therapy and Pharmacy Technician programs. So why did CCi push for degree programs? My guess is to take advantage of lower income students. Peter Waller, Beth Wilson, Jack Massamino and Bill Buchanan pushed for more schools to offer CJ and Bus programs. Guess what smart executives, it appears that the Everest linear programs are only back by National Accreditation, which means many students cannot transfer their degree credits to a lot of regionally accredited school for higher learning.

Finally, it appears that most CCi management employees are products of hiring agencies and failures at previous agencies. If you think that I’m being disgruntled again, then here is a thought for you… Why did CCi hire executives from such companies as Taco Bell, Disney and Mortgage Banking Companies and none from EDUCATION? You don’t want to read my response from that; however, I’m sure the DOE would be quite interested. But I can tell you, those caliber types of people are great as lead generators; however, poor at operations. Let’s face it, providing education is a huge part of operations is probably why one of the only expectable executives at CCi is the Chief Academic Officer Richard Simpson. At least he has an education background compared to the others
You can appreciate of comments or not. You can consider me a disgruntled employee; however, the truth needs to be surfaced. CCi only cares about starts, attrition and job placement results to please shareholders, which are fine attributes; however, the poor quality education and greedy practices of taking financial aid, grants and cash payments is inexcusable.
