In response to the person who commented regarding CCi’s adds on BET.

CCi has always run ads at times they would attract unemployed persons, especially during daytime afternoon TV programming. I believe it was around 2006 when they began marketing toward the ATB student with the “Get off the couch commercials”, which are the commercials with a thuggy-looking guy telling people to get off the couch and call. When I commented one day at work that I never saw these commercials, I was told I needed to watch shows like Maury Povich or Jenny Jones, that’s when the commercials were most often played. It was also around this time that CCi began using loan companies that provided sub prime loans to cover students out of pocket expenses, and which allowed CCi to meet the 90/10 guideline. Is it any wonder that the company ran into problems with increasing numbers of prior students (grads and nongrads) defaulting on Title IV funding loans? All CCi saw was a student population that was easy prey and all that Title IV money they could soak up.

What is so sad is our campus at GREAT programs. We were a diploma granting school, not degree granting. Our instructors were very knowledgeable with years of experience. They always went the extra mile to help the students. For a while, I felt we really did change lives! BUT… when the company starting marketing to people who started out with one foot on the banana peel, ready to fall, then removed all student accountability such as Senior Check-Off exams, added a Remove All Barriers Policy (basically the instructors had to let students make up everything at full credit), and changed the computer software so that attendance no longer counted being tardy or leaving early into the absences, to name a few, how can anyone expect that student to succeed.

I used to be proud to work for CCi, now I am so embarrassed!
