Heald is going through massive layoffs in their admissions staff aka presenters.
Heald is simply not getting enough new customers aka students to justify the overbloated staff.
If you don't sell then you get laid off. The enrollment numbers simply don't justify the number of admission reps.
Heald is making a big deal about the WASC Sr accreditation allowing it to offer BS degrees. What Heald doesn't mention is that the BS degrees approved ONLY include a nursing program at Fresno along with a business degree at some campuses. It is debatable if the nursing program at Fresno will even get off the ground as to start a nursing program is a pretty expensive proposition along with that California has a HUGE GLUT of unemployed nurses.
WASC also was "chewed out" Heald for its extremely low retention rate among the student population.
It's a mess over at Heald and no one really has a plan for dealing with it. The plan is likely to be forced upon Heald with ever declining enrollments. Heald reps that used to make 10 or 20 sales every quarter are down to 1 or 2. You can't keep admission people employed technically on salary but in reality on commission for very long when you have a 90% drop in sales.
The Heald faculty know that the school is a "big joke" but understandably can't tell the students that unfortunate fact of life because everybody is trying to keep their job.
