Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Heald is hardly strong at the moment. To be fair, a LOT of Heald's problems are out of its control. Realistically a for profit educational institution can't compete with a low cost or even free public community college. Heald going from non profit to for profit did not help. The simple fact of the matter is that when you sell an inferior product that does not meet the need of the consumer then sooner or later the product fails. The days of an AA degree in Northern California to get you in the door for an "entry level" "professional" career are LONG GONE. You need a BS degree to have even a remote chance of getting a LOW PAYING entry level job. You won't find a job to service over $20K of student loan debt. With the exception of the Rancho Cordova campus, Heald has a graduation rate of about 30%. You start seeing the reviews of Heald from "dissatisfied customers" at Yelp dot com for the last 2 years then you know that "the gig is up". Heald in a "runabout way" admits that it is "out of the times" when CCI's website proudly announces that WASC will accredit Heald BS degrees as a "demand by our students" and "employers demanding higher credentials". What that means is, Your AA degree won't get you anywhere so get a BS degree at Heald. I don't see any REALISTIC possibility that ANY TIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE that the Northern California job market will improve such that employers will demand Heald Graduates. (And NO, the companies such as Liberty Tax Service, security guard companies, retail strip malls, etc. coming to Heald looking for minimum wage employees don't count).
