Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Whether Heald is a "real school" of course depends on ones definition of a "real school". What can be said is that Heald graduates are having an extremely difficult time finding ANY jobs in their field of studies upon graduation and even a bigger problem is finding a job that justifies the cost. Most Heald professors (better called adjunct instructors) are disposable. If the enrollment goes down then so does the number of instructors. Many of Heald instructors are "freeway flyers" going from one educational institution to another to find enough work to pay the bills. Heald enrollments are starting to drop as : 1. The loss of Cal Grants is a major hit. Prospective students are simply saying NO to the additional expense 2. Recent Heald graduates are NOT finding jobs. The simple fact is that many employers have discontinued their employment relationships with Heald after giving negative student learning outcomes (SLO). 3. People with negative Heald experiences are telling prospective attendees in so many words "Not to go to Heald". 4. An AA degree is no longer an entry level credential by many employers. This is even acknowledged by Heald as they are now starting a BS program in business and nursing. In fairness to Heald, the entire postsecondary education industry is undergoing consumer scrutiny which is a good thing as a college degree is no longer a guarantee of success. Also, it should be pointed out that Heald is incorrectly claiming that it will be eligible for Cal Grants in July 2013. That is incorrect as of the current law Heald is banned from Cal Grants until July 2014.
