At the last Global Team meeting at Harris Corp. Melbourne Florida back in mid 2010, Dr George Dempsey (with a Ph.D. in psychology) was brought in for the majority of the meetings spanning 3 days, to try and help fix the problems at Harris CapRock and Harris Corp., quote:
“Being an effective leader is not unlike being an effective human being; we are at our absolute best when we are absolutely authentic. Your team has got to know the real you.”
Structured like a pyramid, a very few people at the top now create conditions for the majority below, since most of the mid management have lost their jobs in 2011 / 12 when Harris Corp acquired the company. Who are these people at the top making these decisions at Harris CapRock and Harris Corp today, nobody seems to know!?
According to Professor Philip Zimbardo’s research into the corporate psychology “A fish rots from the head” and the people at the top are more likely to be psychopaths than the rest of us.
The medical definition is simple: A psychopath is a person who lacks empathy and conscience, the quality which guides us when we choose between good and evil, moral or not. Most of us are conditioned to do good things. Psychopaths are not. Their impact on society is staggering, yet altogether psychopaths barely make up one percent of the population.
Unfortunately with the mid management job losses in the hundreds, and with corporate psychopaths making up at least 1% of the top management (according to Professor Phillip Zimbardo), we can never really know the people at the top making the decisions that effect our everyday lives and thus the leadership will always be ineffective and the company permanently weakened.
