I understand the anger and disappointment that comes from being laid off, I have experience it at least twice in my career. It takes you by surprise especially if you know you are doing a good job and have tenure with the company. You feel rejected, betrayed, and left wondering why me? But folks lets remember that UOP isn't the only company laying off people, it is happening all over the country. The lesson I have learned over the years is that no job is secure and if you think there is job with a company that is secure then you are sadly not living in reality. Strayer University laid off 200 people yesterday too...UOP provided employment, benefits, and at one time a sense of job security, the writing was on the wall when the first lay off happen so this shouldn't be too much of shock. I highly recommend the book "Congratulations You've been Fired"
