Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

The reality is Apollo always wanted ground vs. online. It creates higher numbers when the 2 compete. What they didn't see is that unethical EAs can ruin it for all. Not all EAs are bad but the ones that are set the reputation for the whole group. Reality is it's cheaper to house all enrollment in Phoenix. You don't have to pay state taxes in FL, NJ, Mass. etc.... You don't have to pay money to rent a building, staff, or instructors. It just is more fiscally smart to house everything in Phoenix. The war between ground and online was just to drive numbers and enrollments....get big. Now they are too big, the costs are too high, the govt is too pissed, and corporate is too chickenshit to be honest with the employees. All of this is going on these days and Joe D has been on a month long trip to Australia and New Zealand with his family. He seems to be really worried!!!! They have a plan in place to systematically shut down a large amount of ground campuses over this year and the next because it is too expensive to operate in the sense that they don't make enough money off of it to be satisfied. I feel bad for the ground people because the shit is hitting the fan and they are the ones who will lose the most....not because are weak or bad at their jobs....it's because of greed and the fact that more $$$ will be saved than lost if closed down. Decisions made solely on $$$ and structure and not talent is the beginning of the end for any company.
